Summer Singer Showcase • 8/14/12

The third and final installment of A SUMMER SINGER SHOWCASE; Series at Downtown Crossing enjoyed a fabulous turnout! Up and coming stars representing Bristol Entertainment sang their hearts out at the outdoor stage. The event, Tuesday August 14th, was an exceptional way to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of these young artists’ careers!  The lineup of talented performers included Philip Ransley II, Dakota O’Driscoll, Kassandra Wheeler, Arianna DiSisto, Dillon Tognacci, Kassandra Melo and, the featured artist of the evening, country singer Jessie Chris! The artists were all terrific as they commanded the stage and delighted the crowd!

O’Driscoll made a powerful impression as the opening act. Her soulful rendition of Etta James’ “At Last” beautifully contrasted by her cover of “Skinny Love” on guitar. Teen heartthrob Phillip Ransley showed his pop prowess as he paid homage to the most popular men in music at the moment; Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and One Direction. Wheeler channeled her inner Miranda Lambert onstage, combining her country-style singing with a fun and flirty performance  that titillated the crowd. Melo really rocked it out on the guitar, playing Fleetwood Mac’s classic, “Landslide” as well as giving her very own dynamite delivery of “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele.

As he took the stage, Tognacci announced, “Get Ready to Dance!” and the audience excitedly rose to the challenge. Tognacci’s songs were brimming with energy and flash as he performed three original electro-pop dance numbers with the help of his sassy back-up dancers. DiSisto was a vision on stage, belting out “This is My Now” with conviction and heart followed by a very moving and passionate rendition of “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry.

Jessie Chris, the Featured Artist, took the stage and commanded the space with her star power and dynamic presence. The first song of her set brought the audience to its feet as friends and family gathered round the stage to hear Jessie sing “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts. Jessie Chris proudly debuted two original songs that really showed off her talent as a singer and a songwriter. “Country Girlie Girl,” her first original song, was written especially for her by friend and fellow country star Matt Johnson, who helped her create a captivating, endearing number. Jessie’s final song was an outstanding performance of her second original “Chameleon” which was produced at Bristol Recording Studios with Senior Producer Chris Billias. The crowd reacted excitedly by clapping and swaying to the beat. Jessie told the crowd that night with so much pride that “Chameleon” will soon be released as her first single. Every performer on the stage was sensational and when the event came to a close there was a feeling of inspiration in the air.
