An Artist Spotlight on
Whitney Doucet and Keith Urban at XFINITY Center in Mansfield, MA
Keith Urban shouts into the microphone,“Let’s all welcome Whitney Doucet!” followed by a thunderous cheer from over 16,000 country fans. The 23-year old, singer-songwriter gracefully runs onto the stage, greeted with a huge hug from the country superstar. “The whole experience was unreal. Keith was so nice and easy going which helped to calm my nerves. It was by far the greatest day of my life.”
With drive, talent, a distinctive voice and the ability to captivate an audience, it's no surprise that Whitney was selected to perform a duet with Keith Urban at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts after winning a radio contest hosted by WKLB Country. A true testament of how impressive her performance was, Keith Urban sent Whitney an autographed guitar days after the concert. With all eyes on Whitney, this great experience may soon become just another day in the life.
Her powerful sound resembles the country soul of Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes. She has been making a name for herself in the music industry for years now with her upbeat personality and killer vocals.
The bubbly brunette grew up in Fitchburg, Massachusetts where she discovered her love for music at a young age. “My uncles were always in bands growing up and my mother is a really good singer, she just doesn’t let anyone know it.” During her freshmen year of High School Whitney let everyone know about her voice when she entered the school talent show. This was the first time she had ever performed in front of an audience, nonetheless as soon as she started to sing “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes she had already won the competition. “After I won the talent show and saw the amazing reaction from the crowd, I became obsessed with singing.”
When she isn’t performing with country superstars, Whitney still finds time to teach voice lessons at Bristol Studios and play numerous shows throughout the New England area. “The voice program at Bristol is like magic, it teaches you exactly what you need to know and it has made a 120 percent difference in my voice.”
In 2012 she was honored three times at the New Hampshire Country Music Awards, taking home the award for New Female Vocalist- Country, Traditional Country Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year.
Stay tuned for her first professional music video which will be released this October. The video is for her original song “Gone By Tonight” which she describes as an “upbeat country anthem about being spontaneous.”
